Purchasing Coordinator

E.C. Barton & Company Corporate Office


General Description Coordinates the office and clerical functions associated with the purchasing and distribution of merchandise and assists in vendor program evaluation and development for the Company. Works to create and enter product data and information for the e-commerce platform. Creates and maintains space planning through use of intended software. Will require the performance of duties personally and in conjunction with other partners. Some travel may be required.
Essential Job Functions include the following, other duties may be assigned:

• Coordinates and organizes activities related to procurement of store merchandise
• Assists in creating and managing corporate purchasing programs
• Serves as a liaison between suppliers and buyers to ensure company’s expectations are met
• Collects and enters product data and information into the e-commerce platform
• Creation and maintenance of floor and space plans


Job Duties must be able to perform the following duties in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:

Calling, emailing, or mailing to suppliers assigned purchase orders

Monitors purchase orders to ensure timely arrivals and distribution to the correct stores

Follow up with any supplier on delinquent arrival of purchase orders

Gathering supplier information needed to for all related functions of the purchasing group

Works closely with other departments to ensure accuracy and implementation of products, programs, and processes

Maintain correct program product costs in system

Maintain all information on company website

Maintain all supplier and product databases for the company in general, the website and e-commerce

Assist in evaluation and implementation of most effective and efficient space utilization and floor planning for all store locations

Be proficient in the creation and use of Microsoft Excel documents

Analysis of Data - The job deals with a large number of details. It requires that details, data, and facts are analyzed and challenged prior to making decisions and that important decision-making data is maintained accurately for repeated examination as required.


Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory and order processing systems; and intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and knowledge of email systems and use of the internet.
